This piece is one of Gibson’s newest works. The bold palette of gold, red, and black evoke the primal energies associated with the basic forces of creation. In this piece, Gibson attempts to reconcile the forces of human aspiration, hope, and desire with the opposing negative energies evoked by the universe itself. The ultimate goal of human desire is to overcome all opposing forces through force of will and the trust that hope will rise above fear. The consuming energy of the bristling golden images erupting from the palette evoke a sense of passion and fire that breaks free from the bonds of limitation.

THE ART OF MITCHELL EARL GIBSON
Mitchell Earl Gibson is a accomplished contemporary artist. His art has been included in many art collections, exhibitions, and catalogs. Gibson’s works has been included in the Encyclopedia of Living Artists, Marquis Who’s Who in Art in America, The Art Communication International Curated Exhibition, and The World Contemporary Art Invitational Exhibition. His piece, Man to Man, won the Creativity Prize at the Grand Prix Mondial Des Beaux Arts Biennale in the Musee D’Art Moderne,France. Gibson’s themes are based on sweeping imagery and visions that he receives while in deep meditation. His use of color, line, and bold themes invite the viewers to ponder their unique style and multidimensional thought provoking patterns. Gibson began painting twenty years ago and has continued to develop and evolve his fiercely unique style. He voluntarily stopped showing his work in galleries in 1999 in order to deepen his meditations and focus on the meaning of the imagery. He now believes that his work evokes the hidden patterns behind the force of creation itself. These patterns, that he calls light mandala, are creations of the Primordial Mind. The Primordial Mind evokes all the varied patterns behind the vast canvas of what we call reality by painting with the brush of light mandala. In his work, Gibson attempts to use the mandala to evoke basic drives and themes that are common to us all.

This piece was created over the space of four days. During this time, Gibson listened to one piece of music repeatedly, Mahler’s Second Symphony. The power and scope of this symphony moved Gibson to paint the solitary figure. This figure is surrounded by creative forces that he attempts to channel through his instrument. Mahler often attempted to capture deep and intense emotional themes through his works. Man Playing Saxophone is a complex emotional and artistic exploration of man’s attempt to harness the often deep and powerful energies that move within his soul.
